Ordering
Before your order
I do my very best to show the artwork as accurately as possible with regard to size and color. The image you see online may show a difference due to slight variation between browsers, devices and screen settings. Any variation between the image represented and the actual artwork is not deemed a fault. If you feel the need to see more detailed pictures, please email me at shop@joanacarvalho.com before you order. I want you to be happy with your purchase!
How is my payment handled?
Payments are taken through PayPal in US dollars.
You do not need to have a PayPal account to purchase; you can use the PayPal service to pay with your regular debit or credit card.
Paintings
What medium are your original paintings?
Mainly acrylic painting, but sometimes you’ll find collage pieces, graphite, oil pastels, and other mixed media.
Are your paintings framed?
A few. Please note that while all the paintings are SHOWN in frames, they are for reference only. Since many people prefer to choose their own, it’s not something I offer for every painting. This and other details will be listed alongside each piece.
My favorite painting has sold! Now what?
Make sure you join my mailing list to find out about new work before it is added to the Shop. You can also follow studio progress on Instagram or Facebook to see work coming up. I will be offering prints in the future too, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Do you offer PRINTS?

Shipping
When can I expect my painting(s)?
Once full payment is received, items will ship within 2 – 3 business days. Weekends and US federal holidays excluded.
I ship through USPS first class mail with tracking and delivery confirmation.
How is shipping calculated?
Most artwork has an estimated shipping cost included at checkout based on the size of the work and your location. I offer FREE SHIPPING for people in California, US.
Do you ship internationally?
I do, but please note that I cannot guarantee your package will arrive by a certain date. Please allow 2–4 weeks for international delivery. This is an estimate only and will vary by destination, time of year and customs.
If your location is restricted once you get to the checkout, message me with your details and the piece you would like and I can give you shipping options.
International customers are responsible for any additional customs tariffs, VAT, duty or import charges your country might impose on your package, and must accept any delays caused by such processes, since it’s out of our control. I can not predict what these tariffs will be, since they vary by country, and accept no responsibility for additional charges.
Shipping costs contribute towards packing supplies, labour and transit fees.
Refunds
Can I return my painting?
I gladly accept returns – within the US – if the artwork is not what you expected.
Contact me within: 7 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 14 days of delivery
Request a cancellation within: 1 day of purchase
Once a return has been agreed, you are responsible for packing and arranging return delivery using the same service it was sent to you. Once the piece has been safely returned we will refund your payment within 14 days, minus shipping costs.
I live outside of the US. Can I still return my painting?
At this time I am unable to offer a refund or return on any product(s) sent abroad. But please email me at shop@joanacarvalho.com with any questions before making a purchase. Maybe all you need is an extra picture or a small detail and I will gladly help with that.
What if my artwork arrives damaged?
All paintings are wrapped and packed with extreme care, but in case you receive work that has been damaged in transit, please take a photo and contact me within 7 days.
